Take Advantage of Free Contact Lenses

August 15, 2011.

If you wear contact lenses and like them, then that’s great but one thing you might not know really well is how other brands of contact lenses work.

Contacts are still an emerging technology. It seems a few times every year, there is a new brand or kind of lens hitting the market. Some try to keep your eyes moist and others are for people that need bifocals or have astigmatism. The materials and technology behind them is still evolving, so even though you might be happy with the ones you have, you may be missing out and not even know it.

Get Free Contact Lenses

One way to check out other brands and kinds is to take advantage of free contact lenses and we’ll explain how you can do it.

The first thing to do is go and see your eye doctor. You will want to make sure your prescription is up to date. You should make an appointment every year anyway. Some contact lens companies like Acuvue will even send you a happy birthday postcard in the mail and also remind you to go see your eye doctor. Your vision does change, so it’s good to get it checked on a regular basis. And to take advantage of these trial contact lenses offers, they will require that you have an updated prescription, which means it has to be less than a year old.

After your exam, ask your eye doctor about getting some sample lenses before they go ahead and order your normal brands. Explain that you want to try them out and see if other brands could work better for you. They will understand what you want and will know exactly what to do. They are able to order them easily for you.

When they arrive, see how long they are good for. Sometimes it’s one day, sometimes a week but usually a month. What that means is that you can try several different brands and save yourself several months of contact lens costs – saving you money!
